Vacancy: Head Start Teacher
The Puerto Rican Family Institute- Head Start Program has immediate openings for Preschool Teachers at their Bronx location.

Summary: Under the supervision of the Education-Special Needs Manager, the Teacher assists with overseeing and directing the planning, organizing, and implementation of education services in a healthy and safe learning environment in the program. The Teacher works in partnership with parents to promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of Head Start children.
Qualifications: ___________________________________
· Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education, Master’s preferred;
· NYS Teaching Certification Birth-2, or N-6;
· Commitment to fostering and inclusive multicultural environment reflective of student and family backgrounds;
· Ability to meet clearance requirements including physical examination/TB screening, documentation, criminal background check, state child abuse registry check;
· Previous Head Start or early childhood experience preferred;
· Computer literacy required;
· Spoken and written fluency in English/Spanish; English/French preferred.

Vacancy: Building Superintendent Full Time Position
The Puerto Rican Family Institute-Bronx Head Start Program has an immediate opening for a Building Superintendent at their Bronx location.
Description:
The Building Superintendent performs maintenance and housekeeping duties that relate to maintaining the physical plant, equipment, and grounds in excellent operating conditions in order to ensure a safe and clean environment. Some duties include:
· Performs and assists with general maintenance of facility including housekeeping, mechanical, electrical, carpentry, plumbing and other areas as directed.
· Strong working knowledge of HVAC, heating, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration
· Conducts periodic inspections of the building and equipment to determine areas of needed repair.
· Serves as liaison to vendors and contractors.
· Ensures compliance with fire safety standards. Checks fire prevention equipment on a scheduled basis (e.g. exit lights, back-up lighting, emergency panic bar batteries, etc.) to ensure that they are in good working order.
· Cleans the facility on a daily basis following guidelines/work plans established by the center’s leadership team including vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, sanitizing classrooms and restrooms.
· Serves as Fire Marshall.
· Assist with training and supervision of custodian maintenance staff.
· Washes and disinfects all bathrooms, bowls, basins, and floor fixtures.
· Ensures program vehicles are inspected, registered, and maintained in proper working order.
· Conducts health and safety inspections.
· Documents inspections of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, emergency lights, fire extinguishers, etc.
Qualifications:
· High School Diploma or GED.
· Clean and Valid Driver’s License.
· Prior custodial/building work.
· Ability to perform manual work consisting of cleaning, heavy lifting, and snow removal.
· Current physical examination and TB screen documentation upon hire
· Must undergo and pass: DOI Fingerprints, SO, and Central State Registry Clearance
· Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with other staff, children, parents, and visitors of the program
· Good health, ability to stand long hours and able to lift heavy objects.
· You must have or obtain Fire Safety Certificates (S95, F01, & F07) upon hire.
